The Ambootia Tea Estate is situated on the slopes of Darjeeling, near the town of Kurseong and was established in 1861. The cool mountain air and the Himalayan springs supply the teaplants with precious minerals and salts. Ambootia comes from the Tibetan Lepcha word ‘Am-Butia’ and means ‘mango grove’ as mango trees used to grow here. Tea lovers can taste the mango notes with a bit of imagination.
